FAQ

What has happened to the BNM?

The French National Metrology Office (BNM) has been closed and its missions were transferred to the French National metrology and test laboratory (LNE) on 1 January 2005. Decree N° 2005-49, published on 25 January 2005, amending decree N° 78-280, published on 10 March 1978 relating to the National Test Laboratory is the official text defining the new missions of the LNE. Note that the name of the LNE has changed. It is now called the “National metrology and test laboratory”, but the acronym LNE is still used.
