Does uncertainty include trueness?
Uncertainty is an indicator of the quality of a measurement result. It is the goal of every measurement to try and obtain “true” results. Consequently, uncertainty must include a component related to trueness. Strictly speaking, the metrologist must correct all the systematic effects and then take the uncertainty of the corrections into consideration in the evaluation of the uncertainty of the result. The uncertainty of the result is much greater if the metrologist decides not to apply any corrections.
