Compared to the 2005 event with a record participation of the International Organization of Legal Metrology foreign representatives, this Year’s Congress ranks among events with an honourable attendance level:
- 650 registered participants, and an extra 120 visitors,
- the Exhibition has enjoyed another year of growth, with a total of 73 exhibitors (a 14% increase compared to 2005) and a greater international participation with 25% of registered companies from the largest European countries, Africa and the USA,
- 170 scheduled conferences and meetings focusing on special issues and allowing professionals to held in-depth discussions,
- 35% of the attendants were from 40 different countries.
This year’s meeting confirmed that the 13th Metrology Congress has become established as a major event of the field of Metrology in Europe. This is what some our visitors had to say about it:
“a family meeting, a great family… This is an essential rendez-vous and meeting opportunity for regulars every 2 years. We are members of a very small community generally scattered in laboratories and companies, somewhat isolated and too often misunderstood. A large group of cousins who meet only seldom but with great pleasure…
Metrology is a large field starting with basic field standards in all industrial sectors and services, covering the whole network of measurement systems and up to the measurement standards of the national laboratories. But the gap can be large sometimes between metrologists in the field and metrology scientists, as if each group was living in a different world.
What is common to a metrologist of a National Bulgarian or Australian Laboratory and the Metrology Officer of a French small business in Toulouse? Learning from each other, this is probably the opportunity it offers and this can turn out to be sometimes … a difficult challenge! But yet, one may wish that this four- day event brings together a larger audience with participants from more countries in the future.” according to the Metrology web site of Afnor www.metrologie.afnor.org
On the part of CFM organizing team, we want to thank all participants of Lille 2007 Congress for their great contribution.
Next event is scheduled in Paris 22 - 25 June 2009 with an even more pronounced European focus, a commitment to address more fully the concerns of manufacturers and a larger coverage of the last trends in the field of measurement, along with the now traditional and well-attended exhibition hold outside the meeting.
We wish to see you all in Paris June 2009!
